The pair have now clashed multiple times in their three meetings.
But the main talking point after the game seemed to be the performance of Diego Costa, especially his stamping controversy.
Costa is certainly a biting character, who has no problem winding up the opposition in a confrontational manner.
The player on the receiving end of much of Costa's vitriol was Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel - and this is certainly not the first time the two have come to blows in a football fixture.
It all stems from the Slovakia v Spain match in October, which the minnows surprisingly won.
The Premier League pair got well acquainted in the game, as Skrtel back-pocketed him for 90 minutes with plenty of pushing and shoving going on, as well as the odd stare-down.
When they faced off a month later in the Premier League they got at it each other again, as Chelsea won 2-1 thanks to a second half strike from the Spanish international striker.
It was also a game that saw a trip, barge and even an eye gouge exchanged between the pair - who are clearly not on each others Christmas card list.
But it is an exciting rivalry that looks like rumbling on for a number of Premier League seasons and long may it continue.
