Roberto Martinez has suggested Everton are currently missing two players who are integral to the club's style.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has stressed the importance of two absent players via the club’s website.
The Spaniard says Steven Pienarr and Leon Osman not being available has affected the side, because they are both important to the style of play he feels is best for the club.
“Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman have been two players missing throughout the season which has been disappointing because they are important in the way we want to play,” said Martinez.
“Leon played in every single game last season and we miss what he brings. So I am looking around that.”
Pienaar is a key component of the Everton attack because he’s got good Premier League experience and is versatile.
He has the ability to play down either flank and can also slot into central attacking positions, which gives his manager different options in a key area.
Osman’s absence has been significant because of his experience and the consistency he shows when he’s in his best form.
He can control games from midfield and is also a key figure in terms of setting the tempo of the play and keeping players focused after conceding goals at difficult times.
Having them both back and available will be like having a pair of new signings for the manager and it shouldn’t be a major surprise just how important he feels they both area.
