Since Atletico Madrid’s dramatic upturn in fortunes under Diego Simeone, Koke’s future has been questioned in the British and Spanish media.
However, the 23-year-old has admitted that he is very happy at the Estadio Vicente Calderon and could see himself playing his entire career for Atletico if the club want him.
“I'm cool about it, I see life in red and white,” Koke stated in an interview with AS.
“I'm happy here, the club is growing and I'm growing with it. I don't see any time or place when I'd leave.
“I'm happy to make Atletico fans happy, and I'd like to stay here forever but in football you never know. But if everybody is happy with the arrangement I'll be at Atleti for many years.”
Koke’s versatility and creativity were essential in Atletico reaching last season’s Champions League final and winning La Liga, with the midfielder becoming a regular in the Spanish senior side last year also.
This season he has started 18 of Atleti’s 20 La Liga games, scoring one goal and creating eight assists for the Spanish champions.
It is clear that Koke feels a clear bond to Atletico after graduating from the club’s youth academy and as such Manchester United and Liverpool should probably be advised to look elsewhere in the hunt to fill their midfield ranks.
