Liverpool morning round-up: Rodgers on difference against Chelsea, brands Diego Costa 'poor'

A round up of news stories this morning related to Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers has been quoted by West London Sport explaining the difference between his team and Chelsea last night.

The boss suggests that the Reds were the better side over the two legs of the League Cup semi-final but admits Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois got his team into the final.

The Belgian made a number of top quality saves over the course of both games.

Rodgers has also been quoted by the Guardian claiming Chelsea striker Diego Costa produced not one, but two stamps during the game.

Costa appeared to challenger Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel and midfielder Emre Can during the game.

Rodgers was more critical over the challenge on Can, which he says could have left him with a serious injury.

The boss says Costa is such a good player, his actions last night were ‘poor’.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has told the club’s website that the defeat was difficult to take.

The Belgian shot stopper praised his side’s performance against Chelsea over the two legs and feels they deserved to take more out of the game.
