Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb played an integral role in Algeria’s Africa Cup of Nations win against Senegal on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old smashed an unstoppable shot past the opposing goalkeeper to put his country 2-0 up, after Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez had opened the scoring.
The result meant Algeria qualified for the last-eight of the competition and ensured Tottenham will have to do without him for a while longer.
It is fair to say Bentaleb has enjoyed an outstanding year and that shows no signs of stopping, with potential international success looking increasingly likely.
Back home, Tottenham have crashed out of the FA Cup but will be hoping to seal a Wembley date with victory against Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup this evening.
They will then be hoping Bentaleb returns fit and firing with vital games coming thick and fast for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Bentaleb has made 17 appearances for Tottenham this season and despite his age he is also now a key figure for his country.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what fans thought of the youngster’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
