The on loan Aston Villa striker scored both goals in a 2-0 Derby County win last night.
He scored both of Derby's goals, one in the 68th minute and one in the 93rd minute, despite only entering the fray in the 63rd minute.
Bent has now scored three goals in his Derby career in just 131 minutes of football and yesterday's result saw Derby rise back up the Championship table, level on points with Bournemouth at the top of the pile.
The form of Bent might be pushing him toward a starting spot at Derby in the near future, although he will have serious trouble pushing Chris Martin out of the first-team.
His performance was noticed by many an interested observer yesterday, including Derby team-mate George Thorne.
Thorne is yet to play for Derby as an official player. Just four days after he signed for the club following a loan deal last season he suffered a serious knee injury. He tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a pre-season friendly with Zenit St Petersburg. Yesterday he made his comeback for the under-21 side but he still kept his eye on the seniors as they picked up their crucial win against Blackburn. And he had a congratulatory Tweet for the goal-getting former England international.
Soon enough Derby fans may get to see both Thorne and Bent in action for the first-team.
