Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has told the London Evening Standard he regularly speaks with ex-star Gareth Bale about the club.
Bale left Tottenham to join Real Madrid in an £85 million deal but Davies has revealed he still has feelings for his old club when the pair link up with Wales.
“When we see each other playing for Wales, Gareth always asks about how things are going back here,” said Davies.
“I’m sure he is always thinking about his old club, even though he has moved on to other things now.”
“It’s a testament to Tottenham to see how well he has done at Real Madrid. The stuff he would have learned from better players has given him a massive helping hand.”
It’s encouraging from Tottenham’s point of view that the club are still held in high regard by Bale.
It would have been very easy for him to completely ignore and forget about his links with White Hart Lane and it shows support for the club despite his move to Real Madrid.
It also suggests that Spurs could potentially take advantage of his feelings towards them in the future.
Spurs could well be linked with a Real Madrid fringe player should they qualify for the Champions League this season and in that sort of scenario, Bale could be the difference between them getting and missing out on a key player.
It may even give some fans hope that Bale will return to the club once day in the future at an advances stage of his career.
