Newcastle United supporters should be very pleased if the club are able to complete the signing of Dele Alli from MK Dons.
Newcastle have shown a lack of ambition in recent times - with John Carver being placed in charge and no players being brought in during the transfer window to date - but this would be a signal that they do have some hope of improving their squad.
Alli looks to be one of the finest young English talents coming through the system and, although he does not have a massive reputation yet, he almost certainly will in the future.
Blessed with pace and power, Alli has the physical stature, even at 18-years-old, to impose himself on matches, but he matches this strength with his technical skill.
A competent passer, Alli has also proved to be deadly in front of goal and his tally of 12 goals in 30 League One appearances proves just how talented he is.
Although Alli is an investment for the future, he looks an exciting prospect and his arrival at St. James' Park should be celebrated - even if he isn't the injection of immediate quality to their first-team that Magpies fans were hoping for.
