The summer signing has been back-up to French international Hugo Lloris since signing, which has meant playing in cup competitions.
Yet he made a real howler with the game level against Leicester City at the weekend, fumbling a shot on target which saw Tottenham lose the fourth round clash at White Hart Lane.
Now with a 1-0 lead to protect from the first leg, Pochettino's decision to stick by Vorm is looking more like a brave one, than a straightforward selection.
The Dutchman is no slouch, previously a first choice for Swansea City in the Premier League and with international caps to his name, but the match with Leicester highlighted that he is not at the same level as Lloris.
He deserves a chance to redeem himself, and the games being so close together allow him to instantly make amends, but there is a line between making a decision to help the individual, and help the team.
Pochettino still feels he can trust Vorm clearly, but his judgement has not been perfect since arriving at Spurs, take the captain and vice captain appointments of Younes Kaboul and Emmanuel Adebayor.
Spurs should hope to score enough goals to move any spotlight away from Vorm, but the pressure is on the Dutchman to deliver, and show he deserves the faith of his boss.
Supporters have been split on the decision, some feeling Pochettino must stick by him, others demanding the club play their strongest team, which means Lloris back in. Here's a look at the reaction...
Vorm is a quality goal keeper. One mistake does NOT a bad goal keeper make. We have 2 world classers. #coys#— John (@johnastijake) January 27, 2015
Why can't people grasp what I am saying? Vorm IS good enough to play BUT Lloris is better, he represents our BEST chance, so why risk it?— Marmite (@JustinTHFC1984) January 27, 2015
Any spurs fans who think vorm should play in the biggest match of the season .... Wise up ... Also would you play him in the final then ?— thisisJME (@jamie_d_9) January 27, 2015
If Spurs go out tomorrow it's because we have failed to outscore a League 1 side over 180 (maybe more) NOT because of Vorm.— Joe (@sayers_14) January 27, 2015
Pochettino has revealed that Vorm will start tomorrow ahead of Lloris. Probably not ideal, but just get behind him. There's a SF to win.— Spurs In The Blood. (@SpursInTheBlood) January 27, 2015
Can't think of a good reason for vorm to start tomorrow.... Only hope poch does the right thing #lloris— NoelHinchcliffe (@NoelHinchcliffe) January 27, 2015
