Tottenham fans split on Twitter over big Pochettino decision on Michel Vorm

Michel Vorm

Michel Vorm will start in goal for Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, and the decision is splitting opinion.

Michel Vorm will keep his place for Tottenham Hotspur's Capital One Cup semi-final at Sheffield United, The Mirror reported Mauricio Pochettino as confirming.

The summer signing has been back-up to French international Hugo Lloris since signing, which has meant playing in cup competitions.

Yet he made a real howler with the game level against Leicester City at the weekend, fumbling a shot on target which saw Tottenham lose the fourth round clash at White Hart Lane.

Now with a 1-0 lead to protect from the first leg, Pochettino's decision to stick by Vorm is looking more like a brave one, than a straightforward selection.

The Dutchman is no slouch, previously a first choice for Swansea City in the Premier League and with international caps to his name, but the match with Leicester highlighted that he is not at the same level as Lloris.

He deserves a chance to redeem himself, and the games being so close together allow him to instantly make amends, but there is a line between making a decision to help the individual, and help the team.

Pochettino still feels he can trust Vorm clearly, but his judgement has not been perfect since arriving at Spurs, take the captain and vice captain appointments of Younes Kaboul and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Spurs should hope to score enough goals to move any spotlight away from Vorm, but the pressure is on the Dutchman to deliver, and show he deserves the faith of his boss.

Supporters have been split on the decision, some feeling Pochettino must stick by him, others demanding the club play their strongest team, which means Lloris back in. Here's a look at the reaction...
