As his Nantes career looks to be coming to a close, winger Serge Gakpe has admitted that he is in talks with a number of clubs.
Nantes winger Serge Gakpe has confirmed to Presse-Ocean that he is in talks with a number of clubs, but is still to make a decision on his future.
Gakpe, 27, is out of contract in the summer, and has seen his first-team minutes decrease in recent weeks as negotiations continue to stall.
Nantes are keen to offload the Togo international this month in order to recoup a fee for his signature and, according to the Daily Mail, have even offered him to reported chasers Crystal Palace.
Africa Top Sports have also claimed that the French-born attacker is on the verge of a move to Serie A club Genoa but, while he has admitted that discussions over his future are on-going, there is still no concrete deal in place.
“This is wrong [I have not agreed any deal]”, he said. “There are several clubs I am talking too.
“[But] for now I have not made a choice and I am still waiting.”
Comfortable in a number of attacking positions, Gakpe has scored just twice in 23 total appearances this season, with his recent performances coming in for some criticism from the French media.
Nevertheless, the versatile front man has showcased his talent in spells this season and, with a reported price tag of between £3 million and £4 million, would be within Palace’s budget.
However, given that L’Equipe have also claimed interest from Torino, manager Alan Pardew could face competition in his proposed bid to bring him to Selhurst Park.
