Ravel Morrison is reported to be closing in on a switch to Lazio.
Talented but wayward attacker Ravel Morrison is to take a major step towards the next chapter in his career.
Morrison is not expected to move on just yet, instead his fitness is being assessed ahead of a summer move to the Italian side, with his contract expiring in June.
The 21-year-old is out of favour at the Hammers, and his recent loan spell to Cardiff City in the Championship was not a success.
The report states: "Lazio Has closed the deal for Morrison, the West Ham player will sign a four year contract with annual salary of € 500,000 after taxes plus bonuses. Morrison will be in Rome tomorrow to take his medical."
It will be interesting to see if Morrison can get his career back on track in Italy, having failed to live up to the early hype which marked him out as one of England's most talented youngsters.
He has shown flashes so far, only sporadically for the Hammers after signing from Manchester United in 2012, while training videos of his skill have gone viral.
Whether a move abroad can tame him and refocus him remains to be seen, but keeping fit and in top condition ahead of his prospective summer move in itself will be a good test of his discipline and motivation, with first team chances at West Ham unlikely.
