The Daily Echo has reported that Southampton midfielder Jack Cork has been told by Ronald Koeman to make a decision over his future.
Koeman wants Cork to either sign a new contract offer from the Saints or find another club by the end of this week.
The Echo reports that Cork’s current deal doesn’t expire until the end of the season, which creates confusion over why the club’s Dutch boss is pushing for a conclusion over the matter so promptly.
It could be the case that Koeman doesn’t want any players in his squad who aren’t completely determined and focused on success or it could be the case that he wants the club to get maximum value for a talented player.
If he opts against a Southampton future then the Saints would realistically have time to organise a deal and find potential cover before the close of the transfer window this coming Monday.
However, the Echo also suggests that the club is keen to hang onto Cork and isn’t thought to be in support of pushing him out of the exit door.
