Chelsea v Liverpool - Match Lineup & Team News

Chelsea Stand

Here are the sides for the League Cup clash between Chelse and Liverpool this evening.

Chelsea head into the game against Liverpool looking to react after a disappointing defeat in the FA Cup against Bradford City. That 4-2 loss at Stamford Bridge would have left a very bitter taste in the mouth of Jose Mourinho and his squad ahead of this game and it’s the first chance to judge their mentality after that shock result. Mourinho will likely encourage his side to be a little more expansive than was the case during the first leg between these two teams where the Blues took a lot of pressure over the 90 minutes.

Liverpool will be looking to keep things tight early on in this game before pushing for a winner as the match goes on. Brendan Rodgers has some very good players at his disposal and it will be interested to see how much he wills his side to attack. The Reds need to stay defensively tight and secure, because there will be space for Chelsea to exploit if they use a three men at the back defensive system, which is becoming familiar with this team.
