Chelsea player ratings v Liverpool: Courtois comes up big

Branislav Ivanovic's extra-time header saw Chelsea progress to the Capital One Cup final 2-1 on aggregate following a 1-0 second-leg win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Thibaut Courtois 8.5/10 – Followed up last week’s superb performance with another sensational night, making excellent saves to keep out Alberto Moreno and Philippe Coutinho.

Branislav Ivanovic 7/10 – Came up with a massive goal for his side once again, turning in a powerful header from Willian’s free-kick four minutes into extra-time.

Kurt Zouma 7/10 – Coming into the line-up for the underperforming Cahill, the promising centre-back showed he belonged with his pace, strength and confidence. There were one or two naïve moments, but it’s clear he has a bright future.

John Terry 6/10 – Caught out of position a couple of times but his leadership at the back was fundamental to the clean sheet.

Filipe Luis 6/10 – A solid but unspectacular night for the Brazilian, who came off injured 12 minutes before the end of normal-time.

Nemanja Matic 6/10 – Not quite the rock solid performance we became used to over the first half of the season, as he allowed Liverpool far too much space in the centre of the park.

Cesc Fabregas 6/10 –Showed some nice touches in the first-half before being forced off five minutes after the break following a collision with his skipper.

Willian 6.5/10 – Not a creative force but worked his socks off and nabbed the crucial assist to decide the tie.

Oscar 7/10 – Made some dangerous runs into the final third and linked up well with Costa. Have to feel he’s capable of more, though.

Eden Hazard 6/10 – Showed a few moments of brilliance but it was an otherwise quieter night than usual for the Belgian.

Diego Costa 7.5/10 – Aside from the fact he should have been sent off twice for stamps on Emre Can and Martin Skrtl, it’s hard to overlook how threatening the imposing front man was to the Liverpool defence. Never gave the visitors a moments rest with his bustling work rate.

Ramires (Fabregas 50) 6.5/10 –.An encouraging performance from the midfielder, who looked more than up for the challenge after his introduction.

Cesar Azpilicueta (Luis 78) 6/10 – Looked solid enough after replacing Luis.

Didier Drogba (Willian 119) N/A
