Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend has been speaking to the club’s official website about his side's upcoming Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Sheffield United.
Spurs won 1-0 against the Blades last week and after crashing out of the FA Cup against Leicester City on Saturday Mauricio Pochettino’s men will want to ensure they visit Wembley once this season.
That will be easier said than done against a side that continues to impress against the so-called big boys despite their current League One status.
“We have to remain positive, the games come thick and fast,” Townsend said.
“The character is there; everyone has seen the amount of times we’ve come back in games this season from goals down in the last minute.”
Townsend has made 23 appearances for Tottenham this season, scoring five goals and providing six assists in that time. And despite their FA Cup elimination there is still plenty for the club to play for in the coming months.
A potential trip to Wembley for the Capital One Cup final could be followed by success in the Europa League, while a top-four finish is not beyond Spurs despite the other sides currently fighting for that very thing.
But the one thing they will not want is to lose in two cup competitions in the same week and they will want to maintain the advantage they currently hold over a side that have become cup specialists in recent times.
