Diafra Sakho has told West Ham’s website he hopes the side can make the most of their FA Cup win against Bristol City.
The Hammers battled to a 1-0 win against the in form League One side, with Sakho bagging the only goal with a neat header in the second half.
“I am really pleased to be back playing again and to score such an important goal for the team,” he said.
“To score my first goal in the FA Cup was a special feeling and to be able to celebrate with the West Ham fans is always good.”
“We must now make sure we don't waste that effort by winning in our next game and going as far as we can.”
West Ham’s next game in the FA Cup won't be decided until later, but the club's next match is a difficult contest in the Premier League away at Liverpool.
The trip to Anfield will create different challenges for the Hammers, but it’s important they carry forward a number of qualities they showed in the game against Bristol City.
West Ham defended well yesterday during periods of the game where they had to absorb a great deal of pressure.
Liverpool are likely to have a lot of the ball this weekend so it’s important Sam Allardyce stresses the need for the side to stay firmly switched on and focused throughout the game.
If the Reds create the same number of chances that Bristol City had yesterday, they may not be as wasteful in dangerous situations.
Sam Allardyce needs to change the focus and switch the attention as soon as the players are back in training if they have been given a day off today.
