Werder Bremen's creative midfielder Zlatko Junuzovic could be heading to Trabzonspor if reports are to be believed.
Junuzovic, 27, is out of contract at Werder Bremen in the summer, and talks over an extension have continued to stall in recent months.
The versatile Austrian midfielder has been linked with a move to Aston Villa since the start of the season, per Sky Sports, and told the Kreiszeitung earlier this month: "My agent's getting enquiries all the time, but he will only let me know if anything serious comes in and that has not happened yet.”
It now looks like a concrete approach has materialised, however, with Trabzonspor President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu understood to have held talks with Bremen at the weekend over a potential transfer.
The Turkish side are said to be eager to complete a deal within the coming week, although negotiations remain tentative at this stage, giving some hope to other reported chasers such as Villa and Hamburg.
Joining Bremen from Austria Vienna in 2012, Junuzovic has been an ever-present in the Bundesliga this season, recording three goals and seven assists in 17 games.
Known for his free-kick prowess, the 32-times capped international would provide Villa with another much-needed dose of creative flair following the recent capture of Carles Gil, but it looks like the club could miss out if an approach isn’t made fast.
