MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has been quoted by the Shields Gazette as doubtful over whether his club can keep Dele Alli.
Alli is being heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United and the paper’s reports suggest John Carver’s side are in pole position to land the 18-year-old who they have reportedly scouted extensively.
Newcastle have plenty of time to compete a deal before the transfer window deadline this time next week, but the Shields Gazette claims they may have to agree to something in any deal if they complete the transfer.
They have to reportedly agree to loan the teenager back to the MK Dons for the rest of the season.
That seems like a perfectly reasonable request for the League One outfit to make and something that Newcastle shouldn’t suffer from if they agree to it.
There have been examples of young players getting a chance in the Newcastle first team this season such as Adam Armstrong, but it’s arguably better for Alli’s development if he stays where he is, playing consistently over the rest of the campaign.
He also has the chance to bathe in potential success with the Dons this season, who are third and look good for at least a play-off place.
It seems like win-win other than the fact the Dons lose one of their most talented players.
