Report: Newcastle bid for winger Andre Carrillo rejected, must pay €30m release clause

Newcastle have reportedly had their bid for Sporting Lisbon winger Andre Carrillo rejected.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Newcastle have had their bid for Sporting Lisbon winger Andre Carrillo rejected.

The Magpies may not have a manager in place after Alan Pardew's move to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, but that doesn't seem to be stopping them from targeting new signings.

Reports from A Bola on Saturday suggested that Newcastle were interested in signing Peruvian international winger Carrillo, with a €10m bid reportedly made.

However, A Bola now report that Newcastle's bid has been rejected by the Portuguese club, and they want a whopping €30m (£26m) in order to part with Carrillo.

That figure hasn't just been plucked from the sky by Sporting though, as it is reportedly the release clause figure in Carrillo's contract.

The 23-year-old, formerly of Allianza Lima, has hit six goals and 11 assists this season, and is known to be a pacey winger who can cause problems in the final third.

Despite that, it would be a huge shock to see Newcastle fork out anywhere near €30m for Carrillo, especially with no manager currently in place.
