Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Dynamo Kiev centre back Aleksandar Dragovic, but a January deal is 'unlikely'.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are interested in Dynamo Kiev centre back Aleksandar Dragovic - but are unlikely to make a move for the Austrian this month.

The Red Devils have struggled in the heart of their defence this season, with Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling all struggling for consistency under Louis van Gaal.

Adding another centre back has to be on van Gaal's transfer wish list, and whilst United have been linked with moves for Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels and Athletic Bilbao Aymeric Laporte in recent weeks, but now it's Dragovic on the radar.

The Manchester Evening News suggest that United have considered a deal to bring the former Basel star to the Premier League, with the 23-year-old recently linked with Arsenal and West Ham United by the Daily Mail.

However, they also add that United have doubts over his ability to hold up in the Premier League, so a January deal is unlikely, with the Red Devils more likely to take their time over their evaluation of Dragovic with a view to a summer move to sign him.

The Austrian international is currently starring for Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev, and with 35 Austria caps to his name already, he's got a strong level of experience for his age.

Yet United need to make sure they sign the right centre back this summer, with van Gaal still needing to replace Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand in defence.
