Photos: Phil Neville's terrible tackle on Arsenal's Dennis Bergkamp, and two other Gunners

After Phil Neville said he'd look to 'smash' Tomas Rosicky if he tried to out skill him, we took a look at how it wouldn't be the first time he had roughed up an Arsenal player.

Phil Neville has pleaded innocence over his comments on Tomas Rosicky, insisting he was just joking that he would have 'two footed' the midfielder.

Neville had told Match of the Day 2, he would 'smash' the Czech international if he tried his outrageous skill on him during training.

He later backtracked after the show, saying via Twitter his comments were 'tongue in cheek', yet does the evidence above suggest otherwise?

We have looked through the archives on Neville's appearances against Arsenal in a Manchester United shirt, and he is clearly shown to be no angel.

Just look at his high challenge, pictured above, on Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp during a game between the two sides in 2003.

And that is not the only case in point. Check out his challenges pictured below on Francis Jeffers, and Freddie Ljungberg.

Neville doesn't reserve such treatment just for Arsenal players though, even his old Manchester United pals received his rough challenges.

Check out his lunge on Cristiano Ronaldo while he was playing for Everton, which angered his former teammates prompting Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs to have words.
