Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has been speaking to the club’s official website ahead of his side’s Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea this week.
The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg at Anfield and both will be looking to finish the job when they face off at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Knowing they are just 90 minutes away from a Wembley showpiece and a possible first trophy of the season will be reason enough for both sides to give their all, and Henderson certainly believes Liverpool have what it takes to upset the odds.
Chelsea rarely lose at Stamford Bridge, and yet they did just that when they faced Bradford City in the FA Cup on Saturday. And now Henderson and his teammates are hoping to make that two defeats in a row for Jose Mourinho’s men.
“We’ve got great team spirit and if we play the way we can, then we can get a good result there,” Henderson said.
“We have to be strong both physically and mentally against Chelsea, and I think we’ve shown that recently. We’ve shown that we can be physical when we need to be.”
Liverpool could only draw 0-0 against Bolton Wanderers in their own FA Cup fourth round tie at the weekend. But they have impressed more often than not since the turn of the year, and manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping they can take that final step to Wembley, and from there, who knows?
