Arsenal avoided being on the wrong end of a FA Cup shock at the weekend when they overcame Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2 at the Amex Stadium.
The current holders went ahead after just two minutes when Theo Walcott scored before Mesut Ozil, who has recently returned from injury, doubled the Gunners’ advantage.
Chris O’Grady halved the deficit before the impressive Tomas Rosicky put Arsenal 3-1 up.
There was still time for Sam Baldock to score and give Arsenal some nervous moments late on but Arsene Wenger’s men ultimately triumphed.
Ozil had been side-lined for much of the campaign with a ruptured knee ligament injury but he returned to the goal-scoring trail on his first start for quite some time.
That followed a late cameo performance against Stoke City in the Premier League and Wenger will surely be hoping his club-record signing can now stay fit for the remainder of what looks like being a very exciting campaign for the North London club.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Arsenal fans thought of Ozil’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Think Wenger has been very clever in holding back Ozil and Walcott for this game. Can be a very good confidence booster— DesiGunner (@goonerdesi) January 25, 2015

Great to see Mesut Ozil looking stronger, fitter and ready to help this team achieve something this season. #wesignedmesutozil— East Lower (@Arsenes_Glasses) January 26, 2015
Two great goals from Ozil and theo. Has to be said they have both made a few poor decisions since. We know what they are capable of though.— Le Prof Aido (@Corkgooner33) January 25, 2015
Wonderful move and what a ball to Ozil! Good finish from Ozil 2-0— Steve Wright (@BedsGooner) January 25, 2015
