They say he's 'magic.'
Yes, Victor Anichebe may have stolen the headlines for West Brom at Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon but midfielder Claudio Yacob was many supporters' choice for man of the match during the FA Cup fourth round tie.
Anichebe put West Brom 2-0 up before Birmingham hit back just the once, sealing progression to the next round on a day many Premier League sides had fallen to lower-league opposition.
As Joleon Lescott alluded to after the game, however, this was no easy contest for the Baggies. Birmingham made things tough and this was a classic cup tie - and derby - in the sense that it took real steel for West Brom to hold onto the win.
That's where the likes of Yacob and Craig Dawson came in, with tough tackling to boot. Yacob, like Anichebe and several other West Brom stars, seems to have come on leaps and bounds since Tony Pulis's arrival at the Hawthorns - and that comes as no surprise considering the Welshman's track record.
As for Birmingham, Championship football returns to the main agenda with a trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night. Gary Rowett's men will know they lost fair and square - but also that they pushed West Brom as hard as they could.
Here's the best fan reaction on Twitter to Yacob's performance at St Andrew's:
Get in! Big result, especially with some of the big clubs out. What an atmosphere. Yacob and two centre halves immense. #wba— Joel Penn (@Joelwba) January 24, 2015
Didn't play brilliant, some better than others, yacob brilliant again, still don't know how brunt gets in the team simply woeful #Wba— Sam Cartwright (@Cartwright_17) January 24, 2015
Yacob was one of our best players again today. Like Anichebe, he has already improved a lot since Pulis has come in. #wba— Tom Harper (@tomharper94) January 24, 2015
