Video: Ex-Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt nets brace in Fenerbahce win

Dirk Kuyt

The Netherlands international scored his side’s first two goals in a 3-0 victory over Kasimpasa yesterday.

Dirk Kuyt scored a brace in Fenerbahce’s 3-0 Super Lig victory over Kasimpasa yesterday, showing that at 34 years old he still has goals in him yet.

The Netherlands international was a fans favourite at Liverpool, scoring over 50 Premier League goals over the space of six years at Anfield.

The Dutch forward was a hard-working player on Merseyside and was unlucky to only have a solitary League Cup triumph to show for his time in England.

Kuyt was part of the Liverpool side that was beaten in the final of the Champions League in 2006-07 and the 2011-12 FA Cup, while the former Feyenoord man was also in Rafa Benitez’s side that finished second in the Premier League in 2008-09.

Kuyt’s first strike came in the 15th minute, with the former Red slotting home from the edge of the opposition penalty box, as can be seen below.

The Dutchman went on to score again in the 69th minute, with Caner Erkin completing the side's scoring in the dying moments.

The win keeps Fener on top of the Turkish table, extending their lead over rivals Besiktas and Galatasaray to four points.

Kuyt was part of the side that was crowned Turkish champions last season and clearly is still an important player for Ismael Kartal’s team.
