Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm has been speaking to the club’s official website following his side’s 2-1 FA Cup fourth round defeat against Leicester City on Saturday.
The Netherlands international was in goal for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who looked to be closing in on a 1-0 win before two late Foxes goals changed everything.
Vorm was making his ninth appearance of the season – all of which have come in cup competitions – but he could not help keep Spurs in all four competitions and the focus will now turn to the League Cup semi-final second leg clash against Sheffield United.
If Tottenham had managed to add a second goal to Andros Townsend’s first-half penalty things may well have been different, but Vorm spoke of the importance of remaining focused until the final whistle; something his side were unable to do on Saturday.
“We said at half-time that we had to continue in the same spirit and we created some more chances but against every team you play in England you have to be switched on until the last seconds,” Vorm said.
“There is only one team to blame and that’s us.”
Tottenham have scored a few late goals of their own in recent weeks, usually courtesy of their star player Christian Eriksen, but against Leicester it was the other way around, with Leonardo Ulloa and Jeffrey Schlupp sending the visitors through.
Tottenham have looked more stable in recent weeks with Jan Vertonghen and Federico Fazio at the heart of the defence, but Younes Kaboul was back in the starting line-up this weekend and he was unable to prevent Spurs from some last-gasp agony.
