Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen to sign Netherlands international Memphis Depay according to the Daily Mirror.
The newspaper claims Tottenham face competition from Manchester United for the highly-rated youngster and will have to make his current club PSV Eindhoven an offer too good to refuse as they continue to fight for the Dutch league title.
The 20-year-old shone at last summer’s World Cup and he has already racked up an incredible 107 senior appearances for PSV, in which time he has scored 39 goals and provided 27 assists.
This season he has stepped up his game, scoring 17 times in just 23 matches including 11 goals in 15 Eredivisie matches.
With form like that, it would be no surprise if Tottenham still wanted a player who would arguably be their most exciting attacking talent since Gareth Bale.
Depay currently has a contract until the summer of 2018, and his club manager Philip Cocu recently told Voetbal International that all his players wanted to stay where they were.
But if Tottenham’s interest is real, they will be well aware that Depay’s increasingly good form will have captured the attention of the great and the good of the game, so a move this month may not be beyond the realms of possibility.
Success with that move, however, could be a whole other story.
