According to ESPN sources, Burnley striker Danny Ings is Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino’s top target this month.
The report claims Tottenham are planning a bid for the 22-year-old whose contract expires in the summer.
With no new deal yet signed it means Burnley’s impressive forward – who has scored seven goals already this season – is at risk of being lost on a free in just a few months.
It remains to be seen if Burnley will cash in now or risk losing him for nothing in the summer, but the ESPN report suggests Tottenham have every intention of bringing him to White Hart Lane in what remains of the January transfer window.
Ings has made 114 appearances for Burnley, scoring 39 goals in that time, and his age is such that he could grow into one of the best forwards in the Premier League in the next few years.
The report goes on to claim that Tottenham are prepared to pay around £7million for a player who allegedly has no desire to leave Turf Moor midway through the current campaign.
But if a bid does arrive – from Tottenham or from anyone else for that matter – the Burnley hierarchy may have a big decision to make.
