Samuel Eto’o’s proposed switch to Sampdoria has moved a step closer, with the striker claiming on Twitter to have passed a medical at the Serie A club.
The Liverpool Echo reported on Saturday that the experienced striker had put the finishing touches to his move from Everton.
If that is the case, then Eto’o returns to familiar surroundings after 18 months in England.
Chelsea brought him to the Premier League, with Jose Mourinho snapping up a player he had previously worked with at Inter Milan.
The 33-year-old moved on to Everton last summer, penning a two-year contract with the Toffees.
He has, however, lasted half-a-season at Goodison Park before looking to open a new chapter in his career elsewhere.

Eto’o should have no problem adjusting to life in Italy, having previously spent two productive years with Inter.
He formed part of their Treble-winning squad in 2009-10 that secured Serie A, Champions League and Coppa Italia glory.
Sampdoria will be hoping that he can help them to future success, with Eto’o leaving Everton after netting four times in 20 appearances in all competitions this season.
