A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United are closing in on a £20million deal for Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The 23-year-old has impressed this season at St Mary’s and with doubts ongoing concerning United’s current right-back Rafael, along with the fact that Antonio Valencia is often picked out of position in the Brazilian’s absence, it would be no surprise if Louis van Gaal moved to strengthen the position.

The report claims United recently sent scouts to watch Clyne but given Southampton’s progress this season they are unlikely to sell him unless it is on their terms.

In other news, the Sunday Mirror claims United are one of three English sides prepared to battle it out in the summer to sign £75million-rated midfielder Paul Pogba.

Considering United used to have the Frenchman on their books, they really could have saved themselves a lot of money by simply playing the talented youngster earlier in his career.

And finally, the Sunday Telegraph claims United midfielder Darren Fletcher is closing in on a three-and-a-half year deal with West Ham United.

The Scotland international has rarely featured in recent times and it would be no real surprise if he moved on in the pursuit of regular first-team football.
