The Saint Etienne skipper has admitted the North London side spoke with his agent before Christmas, but a deal now seems unlikely.
Saint Etienne skipper Loic Perrin has revealed that Arsenal contacted his agent before Christmas, but that there had been no progress in any potential transfer negotiations since the turn of the year.
The 29-year-old has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 overachievers and would certainly add strength in depth to Arsene Wenger’s central defensive options.
Perrin has admitted that there was contact before Christmas but that an exit from his boyhood club now seems unlikely.
“There has been no more news since then and as such my departure has been compromised.”
Perrin has made 12 Ligue 1 starts for his team this season and stepped out for Saint Etienne over 250 times over the course of his career.
Arsenal also look set to sign Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista, with the La Liga outfit announcing that an agreement had been reached with the Emirates Stadium outfit.
The Gunners have had issues at the heart of their rearguard this term due to Laurent Koscielny’s injury concerns, which have forced the likes of Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Debuchy to play out of position as last-ditch cover.
However, with the signing of Gabriel seemingly set to be wrapped up in the near future, any further interest in Perrin would be a surprise.
