Liverpool-linked Luciano Vietto nets Villarreal winner in La Liga

The Argentine attacker continued his fantastic run of goalscoring form yesterday, netting the only goal of the game against Levante at El Madrigal.

Since the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer, Liverpool have been linked with moves for new strikers, with Luciano Vietto a name that has popped up with regularity.

The Telegraph and The Mirror both suggested at the end of last month that Brendan Rodgers was keeping a close eye on the Argentine forward, who has had an excellent season for Villarreal.

The 21-year-old was on target yesterday as his side beat Levante 1-0 in La Liga at El Madrigal.

As can be seen in the video below, the South American hitman made the most of a spilled shot from Levante goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo and was on hand to net from close range.

The strike takes the former Racing forward to nine La Liga goals in only 12 starts this season, with Vietto quickly forging a name for himself in European football.

The former Argentina under-20’s attacker was named the Spanish top flight’s Player of the Month in December and has now scored six goals in his side’s last ten games in all competitions.

Liverpool are in need of attacking reinforcements after yesterday’s 0-0 FA Cup draw with Bolton and as such Vietto looks like a tempting option in his current form.
