Chelsea’s hopes of an unprecedented quadruple ended in surprising fashion on Saturday when League One side Bradford City came from two goals down to win 4-2 at Stamford Bridge.
On a day of FA Cup shocks, Jose Mourinho’s side were the headline-pick, with the current Premier League leaders humbled by a side that simply refused to lie down.
Chelsea went 2-0 up through Gary Cahill and Ramires but Bradford were level in the 75th minute, before two late goals left Stamford Bridge in a state of shock and the visiting fans experiencing delirium.
While Blues boss Jose Mourinho played a relatively strong side, with the likes of Cahill, Cesar Azpilicueta and Petr Cech all involved, it was the presence of 18-year-old Andreas Christensen that was the most noteworthy inclusion.
The young Danish defender was making only his second senior appearance for Chelsea but he could not prevent them from suffering a famous defeat.
After the match, we took to Twitter to see what Chelsea fans thought of Christensen’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
So proud of Christensen thought he had a good game yesterday even though we lost— Sarah_cfc (@Sarah_091711) January 25, 2015
I have high hopes for Christensen, great composure on the ball. Good physique too. Hope he makes it at Chelsea.— Mourinho-Esque (@Mourinhoesque) January 24, 2015
I legitimately think Nathan Ake and Andreas Christensen would be better than cahill at this rate— ur step bro (@thehalfbp72) January 24, 2015
How good was Jon Stead yesterday by the way?? A football lesson for Andreas Christensen.— Alastair Cole (@coleymoleyroley) January 25, 2015
Shame to see Christensen so exposed like that. Youth players need direction and protection and he got none.— Charlie Skillen (@charlieskillen) January 25, 2015
