Adam takes a step back in time and re-visits the classic sim management game, Theme Hospital.
When I saw that Origin are giving away Theme Hospital in their 'On the House' promotion, I was hit by the nostalgia train in a big way. I used to play Theme Hospital way more than was probably intended, and I couldn't wait to try it out again years later.
Theme Hospital was originally released on PC in 1997, but I only ever played the game on PS One, and PSP a few years later. So, I've been looking forward to trying out the PC version this weekend.
The basic premise of the game is to design and manage a hospital, and ultimately make lots of money while your doing it.
Not only is the game a fun sim-strategy challenge, but it's hilarious too. All the patients have any one of a large list of comedy ailments, from Hairyitis that makes them look like a Wookie, Bloaty Head which... well, you can probably guess that one, and then there's TV Personalities which has the symptoms described as "delusions of being able to present a cookery show."
All of the above patients and more will be heading to your hospital in search of a cure, and you need to make sure you have the right staff, diagnosis rooms, and treatment rooms in order to help them out.
So, Theme Hospital is what I'll be mostly playing this weekend, and I'll bring you some screenshots of my hospitals in our Sunday Screenshots feature tomorrow. Wish me luck!
