Three Manchester United stars who let supporters down badly against Cambridge

Louis van Gaal hardly covered himself in glory last night - but nor did his players.

Angel Di Maria

Is Manchester United's big-money signing proving a false dawn?

Di Maria showed flashes of brilliance upon moving to Old Trafford but injuries and absent-minded performances have made him look downright average. The Argentine has ripped the world's best defences to shreds - yet here he was struggling to produce any noteworthy moments against Cambridge United.

Radamel Falcao

No matter how bad his service was - and no matter what his relationship currently is with the Manchester United hierarchy, there is no excuse for the Colombian's display in the FA Cup last night.

Barring a couple of good bits of movement, Falcao has looked well off the pace this term. And his goalscoring record wasn't anything to write home about at Monaco, either. Maybe the Manchester United loanee simply isn't up to it, anymore? He certainly wasn't at Cambridge.

Michael Carrick

The Manchester United midfielder often receives praise for keeping Van Gaal's side ticking but, here, supporters were livid with the 33-year-old.

All Carrick seemed to offer was a turn back to goal and simple backwards or sideways pass. On last night's evidence, the Cambridge United players deserve a bigger wage than Carrick - and could do a better job in the United side.
