Southampton fans react on Twitter to Florin Gardos performance in the FA Cup

The Romanian did not have the best of games for Southampton this afternoon.

The top three teams in the Premier League were dumped out of the FA Cup this afternoon, with Southampton one of them.

The Saints faced Premier League opposition in the form of Crystal Palace at St Marys. It was an enthralling game, well at least it was in the first-half, where Southampton twice let a lead slip as they lost 3-2.

Two goals from Marouane Chamakh and a first Palace strike for Yaya Sanogo saw The Eagles to victory and Southampton were not at their best in this cup 'upset'.

One player who certainly did not have his best day at the office was Florin Gardos. The Romanian was signed from Steaua Bucharest in the summer and has recently been thrust into first-team action. With Maya Yoshida away on international duty and Toby Alderweireld injured, he has had to play far more regular than originally planned by Ronald Koeman.

Overall he has impressed. He was particularly good in the 1-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford. But it was his botched tackle that led to Yoann Gouffran's strike for Newcastle last week and today he was not impressive.

After being booked just before half-time he was hauled off by Koeman for Matt Targett, with Ryan Bertrand replacing him at centre-back.

Southampton fans will not lose faith in Gardos just yet. But this was certainly not his best day at the office...
