According to Italian football insider Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma have opened talks with the agent of Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches.
With 30 caps for his country, Chiriches is a highly rated centre back but has failed to really settle with Tottenham, and having slipped down the pecking order at centre back under Mauricio Pochettino, Chiriches was even deployed as a right back earlier this season.
Now, he could be set to leave White Hart Lane this month, with Eric Dier moving into centre back and the addition of DeAndre Yedlin meaning that he wouldn't even be able to play at right back anymore.
Di Marzio reports that Roma are still seeking another centre back even after landing three last summer in Davide Astori, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Kostas Manolas, and despite Leandro Castan coming back to full fitness, they want to bring Chiriches to the capital.
Di Marzio suggests that talks between the player's agent and Roma have already begun this weekend, and are hoping to wrap up a deal to sign him in the coming days.
That could free up some money for Tottenham to sign another centre back, with Espanyol's Hector Moreno recently linked with a move to North London.
