Portuguese newspaper A Bola has reported that Newcastle United are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon winger Andre Carrillo.
The well-respected newspaper cites reports from Peru, where the player was born in 1991, going on to claim that Newcastle are prepared to offer €10million for the 23-year-old.
Carrillo is a right winger who can also operate on the opposite flank or as a secondary striker if required.
He has made 135 appearances for Sporting, scoring 14 goals and providing 39 assists in that time, while he also made 20 appearances for Alianza Lima, where he netted three times and set up two additional strikes.
Carrillo is enjoying a fine season at the Primeira Liga club, scoring six goals and setting up an additional 11 to allegedly attract the interest of Newcastle.
The Magpies have had an up-and-down season to date but they have a very promising squad with some exciting young players, and if the latest report is true, Carrillo could be joining them.
That said, the report concludes with the claim that Sporting are looking for €15million for a player that they only own 50 per cent of the economic rights for.
