Report: Brazilian star Alexandre Pato linked with replacing Samuel Eto'o at Everton

Corinthians

The former AC Milan star is currently playing for Sao Paulo in his homeland.

Everton had an excellent campaign in 2013-14, pushing toward Champions League football under the new expansive playing style of Roberto Martinez.

However they have failed to carry that form into the new season and currently find themselves at the wrong end of the table.

With that in mind changes are rumoured to be on the cards this month. Firstly players are expected to leave. One such player is Samuel Eto'o. Despite impressing in his time at the club so far he is reportedly on his way back to Italy, with Eurosport quoting the player as stating he 'wants to get Sampdoria in the Champions League' yesterday.

With that in mind Everton will need striking reinforcements. Kevin Mirallas' own future at the club has been called into question after 'penalty-gate' and Arouna Kone does not look like the answer, after he finally returned from a long injury lay-off.

Reports are now claiming that Everton have identified their target to fill that gap, and it is certainly a marquee name.

The player being mentioned is Alexandre Pato. The Brazilian international is being linked with a move to Everton in Sportitalia. Pato once cost AC Milan a bundle, but was sold to Corinthians for £12.2 million in 2013, according to the Daily Mail, so he is certainly a player of a certain standard.

Pato has a history of problems off the pitch and with injury trouble but a player of his ilk will certainly appease some of the boo boys at Goodison Park.
