Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo did not waste much time showing his loan club Crystal Palace what he is capable of, netting in only his second appearance since arriving at Selhurst Park.
The 21-year-old French forward could not score on his debut for the Eagles, although he did play his part in a 3-2 victory against Burnley. But he went one better in the FA Cup fourth round clash with Southampton, scoring in the 21st minute to make the score 2-2.
Sanogo always plays the game with a smile on his face, but that smile became broader after he did what Alan Pardew brought him to the club to do on a regular basis.
The forward has only scored once in 20 appearances for Arsenal’s first-team to date, but it already looks like he could be a very effective option for a Palace side looking up in 2015.
The game ended 3-2 to Palace with former Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh scoring the second of his two goals on the day.
On what was an amazing day for FA Cup drama, Sanogo can be happy that he made a positive contribution in helping his side progress to a fifth round that already looks very different to what some people would have expected.
