Perfect time for Tottenham to rekindle interest in Fabio Coentrao

Fabio Coentrao

The Portuguese left-back has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in the past and is struggling for regular football in Spain.

Although Tottenham signed Ben Davies from Swansea in the summer, left-back still remains an area of contention for the White Hart Lane faithful.

The Welsh defender was not convincing in Spurs’ 1-0 victory over Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup this week, while Danny Rose has been guilty of inconsistency also.

As such, Spurs should still be keeping their eyes open for a new left-back and have been heavily linked with Fabio Coentrao in the past.

The Portugal international was said to be a target for the North London outfit in 2013 and as such Spurs would be advised to potentially rekindle their interest in the former Benfica defender this year.

Coentrao is Carlo Ancelotti’s second choice at Real Madrid behind Marcelo and has only started two La Liga games this season.

The Portugal international would bring real quality to White Hart Lane and can boast a lot of experience in playing in the Champions League.

With Tottenham supposed to have a partnership agreement of sorts with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit after selling Gareth Bale and Luka Modric to Los Blancos, surely it is time that Spurs made the most of it and made a move for the out-of-favour Coentrao?
