Fans react on Twitter to Manchester United flop Bebe's performance v Real Madrid

The Portuguese forward was excellent for the struggling La Liga outfit.

Manchester United finally saw their flop attacker Bebe leave the club in the summer - but he certainly did not go to a flop destination.

Bebe was snapped up by SL Benfica. The 24-year-old had an excellent second half of last season on loan at Pacos Ferreira and it seems that the Portuguese champions were impressed with his displays for the relegation threatened side enough to snap him up.

Bebe was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson for £7.4 million in 2010 in a sensational transfer - not least because Sir Alex Ferguson had to admit he had never seen him play and his transfer was at the recommendation of Carlos Quieroz.

However Bebe never looked like making the grade with the club and had loan-spells with Besiktas and Rio Ave - with injury and discipline problems also an issue throughout that time.

However Benfica has not quite been the great revival he would have hoped. He played just 25 minutes in the Portuguese League this season and was therefore offered a chance for regular football. Just a few months after leaving United for Benfica he was on the move again, joining La Liga side Cordoba as a replacement for Japanese international Mike Havenaar two weeks ago.

He has since played 90 minutes in all three game she has played for the club, but today that game was against Real Madrid. The 24-year-old defied belief with his performance. He was a constant thorn in the side of Real. His pace and strength left them scratching their heads on more than one occasion.

In fact, he even won them a penalty, which was converted by Algerian striker Nabil Ghilas.

In the end goals from Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale won the game for Real, in a game that will forever be remembered for Cristiano Ronaldo's red mist moment.

But Bebe's contribution should not be forgotten...
