Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar has stated on social networking site Twitter that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is “a poor manager”.
The Englishman made the remark following United’s failure to beat Cambridge United away from home in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday.
The Red Devils were heavy favourites to win against the League Two outfit at the Abbey Stadium, but they had to settle for a goalless draw.
The likes of Angel di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini all started against Cambridge, and it was indeed a disappointing result for United.
After the match, United manager Van Gaal complained about the state of the pitch at the Abbey Stadium and some refereeing decisions, as reported by BBC Sport.
Lord Sugar was less than impressed with United and even less so with Van Gaal’s post-match comments, taking to Twitter to air his opinion of the Dutchman.
Cambridge Utd 0-0 Manchester Utd. U's earn replay at Old Trafford with hard-fought draw. Unbelievable Van Gaal must be worried man— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) January 23, 2015
Louis van Gaal says Abbey Stadium pitch and the ref contributed to Man U’s draw . What about him being a poor manager does that count— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) January 24, 2015
To describe Van Gaal as “a poor manager” is huge, but not many will agree with Lord Sugar’s claim about the Dutchman.
Although many football followers will find Van Gaal’s comments about the pitch and the referee nothing but excuses, there can be no doubt that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach is a great manager.
