Liverpool faced Bolton Wanderers in the fourth round of the FA Cup this evening, but were left frustrated by a 0-0 draw with the Championship side.
Even with a virtually full strength line-up containing the likes of Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling, Liverpool couldn't break down the Trotters.
With 68% of possession, Liverpool dominated the game and had a total of 24 shots on goal, but with just nine on target, the Reds struggled in front of goal, as Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan produced a number of fine saves to keep the likes of Fabio Borini and Coutinho at bay.
Bolton on the other hand didn't muster even one shot on target in 90 minutes, but manager Neil Lennon will be ecstatic with how his side defended.
The game saw Emile Heskey make his return to Anfield having spent over four years with the club earlier in his extensive career, but he couldn't find the goal for Bolton.
Wanderers now get a plum reply against Liverpool, and given the shaky displays from Brendan Rodgers' men this season, Lennon will fancy his side to claim a win at the Macron Stadium.
