Arsenal are to miss out on the signing of midfield target Marcelo Brozovic as Inter Milan agree a deal for the Croatian ace, Sky Sports Italia report.
The Gunners are seemingly busy this transfer window attempting to bring in a new defensive midfielder to bolster a position many regard as their biggest weakness.
A number of names have been doing the rounds in the paper over the past couple of weeks, with Marca today claiming that the North Londoners have made an approach for Real Madrid’s Aiser Illarramendi.
"We know of Arsenal's interest, but there is nothing agreed. At this moment Marcelo is with Dinamo and everything depends on Dinamo,” he told Goal.
Of the names mentioned, Arsene Wenger will have to scribble Brozovic off the potential list as the Dinamo Zagreb star instead edges towards a move to Inter Milan.
According to Sky Sports Italia, a deal has been struck between the clubs and the player is set to fly to Milan tomorrow to undertake a medical with the Serie A club.
“The nerazzurri reached an agreement with Dinamo Zagreb on an 18 month loan deal with forced option to buy set at €8 million, Inter will pay €3 million upfront. The player will arrive in Milano tomorrow to take his medical, he'll sign a 4 and a half year contract,” the report claims.
Brozovic will join up with Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski who joined Roberto Mancini’s men on a six-month loan spell after growing frustrated at his lack of opportunities in North London.
The 2010 Champions League winners currently lie in 9th place in the Serie A table, seven points adrift of Napoli who occupy third and the final Champions League spot.
