Reports: Papiss Cisse attracting interest from China and Turkey

The Newcastle striker has been linked with a St James' Park exit once more.

Newcastle United will sell striker Papiss Cisse in January for around £8 million, according to the Independent.

The Independent's report suggests that the Newcastle forward is attracting interest from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG - managed by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Cisse's head could be turned by the lucrative offer as it would make him one of the best-paid players in the world, the report claims.

And Newcastle are prepared to sell, say the Independent, as the Senegalese striker's contract runs out in 18 months and the Magpies want to cash in on a potential £8m fee now.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror have also reported that Cisse is attracting interest from Turkish side Galatasaray.

The Mirror claim the Newcastle forward is wanted by several clubs - with Gala leading the chase. Intriguingly, though, their report suggests the 29-year-old has as long as two-and-a-half years left on his current contract, although Cisse himself has said he has 18 months to go on his deal.

Clearly, the reports and rumours surrounding Cisse are conflicting, although the widespread nature of the speculation suggests there has certainly been interest in the Newcastle striker. Both articles have also cited the reported interest in the Senegal man from Swansea City.
