Championship sides have been linked with Italian goalkeeper Francesco Bardi in recent weeks, but according to Tutto Mercato Web it is Cardiff City that are on top of the chase for the player.
The report claims that Bardi is in the viewfinder of Russel Slade in recent days.
If so, he would be snapping him up for Cardiff City from under the noses of Championship rivals Watford and Leeds United - according to recent reports.
Bardi was linked with the two Italian owned clubs by the same media outlet, TMW, earlier in the week. They claimed that they were set to join Spanish sides Real Sociedad and Getafe for the talented stopper.
It would be an odd move for Bardi to head to any of the reported clubs. Watford have Heurelho Gomes keeping sticks and England under-21 international Jonathan Bond as their two stoppers. Leeds have Marco Silvestri in goal, who has been impressive for most of the season despite the odd blip. Experienced back-up Stuart Taylor does not need replacing.
As for Cardiff they have David Marshall as their number one and he is not likely to be impressed although they could do with a back-up - as Joe Lewis is out on loan at Blackpool.
