Kyle Naughton has told London24 about the role Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies had in his move to Swansea City.
Naughton has completed a £5 million switch to the Welsh club and has revealed that Tottenham’s current left-back played a big role in the move.
“Ben had obviously been at the club the longest and he said it was a great place to play your football,” said Naughton.
“He said it was a good club with a family feel to it. To be honest, as soon as I walked into the training ground I could see that for myself straight away.”
Naughton opted for a change because he was down the pecking order in his position at White Hart Lane.
He did nothing wrong at Tottenham and is just unfortunate that things didn’t work out, with his aim now to start helping the Swans close out games and keep clean sheets.
He’ll add plenty to the Swansea first team with his pace down the right hand side an obvious threat, while he’s got good defensive experience which should help Swansea’s backline maintain a good shape and keep clean sheets.
Davies can’t be blamed for aiding his exit because Tottenham still have good right-back options and Davies obviously feels fondly of his time in Wales.
The move makes sense and it will be interesting to see if the Swans can get close to Spurs by the end of the campaign.
