Manchester United morning round-up: Van Gaal on formation, De Gea future takes twist

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester United.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has been quoted by the Daily Express suggesting a 4-4-2 formation makes the coaches on the bench ‘twitchy’.

There has been great debate among fans over the past week whether United are best off with a midfield diamond or van Gaal’s more favoured 3-5-2 system, with which he’s had great success.

Van Gaal also suggested that his players still aren’t comfortable adapting to his style of play.

The agent of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been quoted by ESPN with cryptic comments over the player’s future.

De Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and agent Jorge Mendes refused to comment on the player’s future beyond his current United deal.

Mendes said ‘things can change every five minutes’ but United fans should be confident that the club will have further opportunities to get him to sign a new deal over the second half of the season.

The Daily Express claims Manchester United have been dealt a blow over their reported interested in signing Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva.

The paper claims Cruzeiro, his current club, have done a deal with Real Madrid, which will see him move to the Bernabeu and not Old Trafford.
