Arsenal completed some transfer business earlier this week, bringing in 17-year-old Polish talent Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw. Now, his new boss Arsene Wenger has been waxing lyrical about his potential to become an Arsenal star in the future. In quotes posted by Arsenal.com Wenger has stated:
"I would say, considering his age, he’s more one for the future.
"But let’s be open minded and let [him] surprise us. The first signs that we see are very positive in training.
"Because they had the winter break in Poland, we are just at the starting point of building him up fitness-wise.
"He’s a young boy and he has a huge talent."
Bielik has arrived at the club with a real reputation growing as one of the best young talents on the continent. A defensive midfielder, who can also play at centre-back, he made his debut for Legia in August at the age of 16 and this is his second move in a year - after leaving Lech Poznan for Legia in July.
He has clearly impressed in his first-team appearances for the Estraklassa side as, according to the BBC, Arsenal have splashed out around £2.4 million on the services of an unknown quantity.
Arsenal need a defensive midfielder, but as Wenger has hinted, it will be a while yet before we see Bielik holding down a regular first-team spot.
But next season, with another year under his belt and a League cup to contend, expect to see plenty more of Bielik in an Arsenal shirt.
